Thanks again to Colin, G4XWP, for standing in at the last moment. Due to holidays, only six teams started this event. The signal, like the last event, was fairly strong giving a bearing of around 332 degrees, which we plotted onto the Aylesbury map. Most teams headed up the map to the Long Crendon area which gave a bearing towards Upper Arncott. On our arrival at the site, just after the 8:15 transmission, we ran up the footpath some way, only to be greeted by Chris Plummer. After thrashing about for around half an hour I managed to find the operator with the help of my two team members, one of whom is in training to go on DF himself.
The final insult (maybe I should retire) was discovering that Mark Coventry is forty (6th August); he and his team decided to call in to a pub between transmissions and still managed to find Colin just behind me.
Colin was hidden in a ditch in a copse of blackthorn near to Upper Arncott, whilst radiating the fence and putting up one or two dummy antennas. All six teams managed to find him.
