Only four teams on this fine night. The signal was signal heard some 18 km away but it was all sky wave so an approximate bearing had to be used. The aerial was a half-wave wire.
Almost everyone arrived at approx 20:40 and at end of that transmission and a competitor, only some six feet away, said "Bugger!" - no names mentioned.
The Tx was sited at the edge of a semi dried pond on Hampden Common. This was some 200yds from the pub the Hampden Arms.
